Fake Remittance Advice

By In On January 05, 2015

There has been an influx of spurious Remittance Emails lately. These Emails will be written in a very professional and convincing manner in an attempt to get you to open the attachment. The images below will give you an example of what to look out for. Capture

As you can see from the Subject, it looks very legitimate. However, if you look closely at the email address it has come from you can see that it bares no resemblance to the senders name. This is a common sign of Malicious (Spoofed) emails. If you receive any Remittance emails that you are not explicitly expecting or don’t recognize the sender, do not open the attachment. Instead, forward the email to “virus.scan@systemforce.co.uk” where it will be checked for Malicious content and contact our Helpdesk on 0845 862 0077 (Option 1)  where we can confirm or deny the validity of the email.

Forwarding suspicious emails to “virus.scan@systemforce.co.uk” helps us keep our mail systems defenses up to date, thus stopping these emails from getting through to our Clients.
