Malicious Emails – Fake “WhatsApp” emails saying “You have a new message”

We are seeing fake “WhatsApp” emails saying “You have a new message” that contain a malicious link.

We recommend that should you receive ANY WhatsApp email, that you delete it.

This is because:

1 – The UK Government is currently considering banning WhatsApp

2 – The WhatsApp application will share your mobile device’s contact’s list with their servers, and if you do NOT have permission of the contacts on your mobile device, this may be a breach of the Data Protection Act

3 – WhatsApp is targeted for Phishing scams / malicious emails such as this one.
